Overview
UsJot helps people keep a private journal and build connection rhythms with family and friends. No UsJot account is required. This policy covers the app. The separate Survivor Mountain website privacy policy covers use of this website and its contact form.
Information stored on your device
The app may store information you enter or select, including:
- Names, relationship details, birthdays, interests, and rhythm choices.
- Connection moments, journal entries, private notes, participants, and activity history.
- Optional profile photos and journal photos or videos you choose.
- Reminder, widget, and privacy preferences.
- Purchase entitlement state supplied by Apple StoreKit.
UsJot does not operate an account database or a photo server for this information.
Optional photos and videos
You choose whether to add media. Selected photos and videos are copied into protected app storage so your journal can continue to display them. Camera access is requested only when you choose to capture media; microphone access is used for sound when you choose to record a video. Importing an item stored in iCloud Photos may require Apple to download that item.
Optional iCloud Family Backup
With UsJot Plus, you may create a Family Backup in your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit. A backup can include journal content and selected media. The app can list, restore, and delete these backups. Restore replaces the current local journal after confirmation.
Apple provides the iCloud infrastructure under Apple's privacy terms. UsJot does not read your private CloudKit backup for advertising. This is a backup you choose to create, not automatic live sharing with other people.
Purchases
Subscriptions and activity-pack purchases are processed by Apple. UsJot receives StoreKit entitlement information so purchased features can unlock. Apple's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, UsJot may schedule reminders locally on your device. The app does not use a remote advertising notification system.
Widgets, plans and Apple Watch
Widgets receive limited app data needed to show the features you enable. Personal names and photos are off by default. Private daily-journal writing is not shared with the widget extension. Lock Screen widgets use generic text. If you choose to show a memory thumbnail or names on your Home Screen, people who can see that screen may see them.
The Apple Watch companion receives the people and rhythm information needed for its features from your paired iPhone. An optional Together Time Live Activity displays a timer; it does not record audio or video and does not automatically log a moment.
Analytics, tracking, and sale of data
UsJot does not use third-party advertising trackers, does not show third-party ads, and does not sell personal information. It has no public feed.
Support requests
If you contact support, we receive the contact details and message you choose to send. We use that information to answer your request. Do not include private journal entries or children's full names. Support is handled through the existing Survivor Mountain contact service, described in the website privacy policy.
Children
The app is designed for parents and caregivers as well as people keeping their own relationship journal. Family information and children's journal answers remain under the adult user's control. Children are not asked to create accounts.
Your controls and data deletion
You can edit saved entries and export your journal from the app. You choose where to send an export and who can access it. You can reset local data from the app's More tab. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data. You can delete one or all iCloud Family Backups from the backup controls in the app; uninstalling the app does not itself delete those backups.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will appear on this page with a new last-updated date.
Contact
For privacy questions or product help, use UsJot support or contact Survivor Mountain LLC. Tell us your request concerns UsJot without sending private journal content.
